Custom Email Not Working

I have WordPress Version 4.1 and the latest Event Expresso. The issue I’m having is customizing email templates. I made a custom email earlier for another event and it worked great. I did the same process for another custom email for a different event and I’m getting an error that the content is not allowed. I’ve always been able to cut and paste my custom verbiage into the email template before so I’m not sure why it’s not working now. I also tried to make it a custom newsletter and I’m getting the same error.
An error has occurred:
The following shortcodes were found in the “Main Content” field that ARE not valid: [PDF – 35 KB],[PDF – 511 KB]
The event page is http://www.ncsosfallcongress.com/?espresso_events=practice-management-seminar-navigating-the-eye-care-coding-junglecd-10-cm-medical-vs-vision-examination-coding-pqrs-and-meaningful-use

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Lauren,

I’ve not seen those shortcodes before – [PDF – 35 KB],[PDF – 511 KB]

Which message type and context are you currently adding these to?

It’s the message type Registration Approved. I was creating a custom email for registrants and attempting to add event information to the main body of the email. IF you look at the legislative day registration the custom email works. Thanks!

Hi Lauren,

I just ran a registration on that event and can not see anywhere within that custom message that would use something like [PDF – 35 KB] or [PDF – 511 KB]

Can you copy the content of your new custom message (the one that will not save) to something like http://pastebin.com/ so I can view the code you are trying to save please?

I put it on pastebin, but I’m not sure how that works. I created a new paste. I guess you would search CSOS Practice Management Seminar– Navigating the Eye Care Coding Jungle- (CD-10-CM, Medical vs Vision Examination Coding, PQRS and Meaningful Use) to pull it up.

Apologies Lauren, I should have explained further.

You just need to provide the URL for your pastebin, so for example, here I created a pastebin for ‘Test’ – http://take.ms/VfT6a

If I then grab the URL and include it here: http://pastebin.com/M7L5kkWJ

When you visit that URL you see whatever I included.

That content is different from the email I received for your other event.

The reason for the error is due to lines 10 & 11:

• Preface [PDF – 35 KB]
• ICD-10-CM Guidelines [PDF – 511 KB] Modifications made on page 78.

The messages system uses [SHORTCODE] for special shortcodes to be used within the content. So currently it thinks that text is a shortcode, does not recognise it and so refuses to include it.

You can change this to:

• Preface (PDF – 35 KB)
• ICD-10-CM Guidelines (PDF – 511 KB) Modifications made on page 78.

and it should save without issue.

Okay that makes sense. I will try that. I’m trying to do a test registration for the event http://www.ncsosfallcongress.com/?espresso_events=practice-management-seminar-navigating-the-eye-care-coding-junglecd-10-cm-medical-vs-vision-examination-coding-pqrs-and-meaningful-use
and I’m getting another error code 103. The system is not accepting the payment. Is this something that might be happening with the new updates? I have tried to different credit cards. We have not ran a paid event since November, but it worked great then linked to our authorize.net account. Thank you and sorry for all the problems today!

Error 103 usually happens when your Login ID or transaction key are incorrect.

Can you double check those values within Event Espresso -> Payment Method -> Authorize.net.

Double check there are no whitespace before/after either of those values.

You may want to log into your auth.net account and double check those credentials are still valid too.

Okay that was the problem. The credentials changed at some point. It looks like it is a go and registrations are coming through. Thanks for your help resolving these issues!
