Custom Email Message goes blank on save

Yesterday, I was able to generate emails on our development site by registering to an event. Today, I saw that all fields for one of our 10 custom messages were replaced by the single letter ‘a’. I thought it was a fluke and repopulated the fields, clicked save, and all fields contained ‘a’ and nothing else.

This is for a the custom approved registration email sent to registrant. The only changes I know of that happened yesterday were updating the Members plugin and restarting the server application pool.

Hi Toni,

Is it an “a” that looks like this?

Â

Usually that’s caused by a database encoding issue. We’re those tables migrated over from a live site to staging? If so were they imported in from a script or by some other means?

Nope, it’s just a little ‘a’ with no accent, and there is one in every box. They were working Friday, 1/8, and we haven’t done any updates or migrations or moves this year.

Does it fix things if you reset a template?

No. Would you like me to forward you the email I received?

It says:

a:6:{s:4:”main”;s:92:” (our logo is inserted here)

A database dump may be more useful than the forwarded email to discern what’s going on.
