In the past – I have had lots of people start the registration process, but not complete it by paying for the class. These folks show up in the list of Attendees, but do not count as part of the active enrollment. This is great. When a community partner does this, they contact me directly for payment and I switch their person to complete status.

Yesterday a community partner told me that he had registered someone for a class. This was news to me – which is not a good thing. Since we were both in my office, I asked him to register himself so I could watch the process. He did everything normally – except he stopped prior to payment. He was given a registration ID number and everything. He did not show up in the Attendee list when all was said and done.

This morning (just now) I duplicated what the Partner and I did yesterday – this time the Test entry shows up in the list as I expected.

Any guesses as to what happened? I cannot have people registered for an event and not know about it.

Hi Joan,

That’s unusual. When the person get’s past the Confirmation page they are added to the database.

The only time they would “disappear” is if they then went back to the start of the registration and re-registered someone else. The first person would be overwritten.

Once the person presses the finalise button or pays this cannot happen, which is why we added JavaScript warnings when the user tries to exit the page without following the registration process.

You said that you watched the person do this so I am assuming they did not backtrack at all?

What version of EE are you using?

What browser was used when the issue was shown?

EE3 & FF30

There was no back tracking, until the end. Once they got the Reg ID, then they backtracked out. They did get a “do you really want to leave?” type message. They did not register anyone else.

This morning I did the same thing – including backtracking – and it did save to the database.

I need to be very clear on how far they need to go in the process, without paying, to get it to stick. About half my participants are from community partners, so I need to know how to train them on this pesky detail.

Let me clarify – my computer has FF30 – I have no idea what the partner is using…neither do they.

Hi, are you running any caching plugins on your site and could you also confirm that you are running the latest version of Event Espresso 3?

Does he have steps to duplicate the issue with a specific web browser?

The attendee is saved once the registration is confirmed.

The first time it happened – Partner did it at his computer – specifics are unknown.

The second time he did it was at my computer – with FF30. I watched carefully and that Test registration did not save. I tried to duplicate it today – also with my computer – but it saved Teddy Test with no problem.

Could you share a link to this event and I’ll try a registration in Firefox under the name eetest?

The class is sold out now – not sure how that would change things.

Hi,

I used eetest for the waiting list. I confirmed the registration but did not proceed further (payment page).

I received a MailChimp invite so I think this was recorded. Could you check in the attendee records screen?

That worked – curiouser and curiouser. Where is the last point (click) at which a person should be able to back out and not be added to the data base?

A registrant/attendee is confirmed after clicking on the confirm registration button. They shouldn’t be able to easily click back as it should warn them with a prompt. However if you click okay, then its likely that the registration will be lost.
