Creating new event – cannot view event

I’m using the latest version of EE3. I just created a new event (ID=7). When I go to the Event Overview page, and in the right most column, “Actions” and select “View Event”, I am redirected to a page: Index of /event-registration , but no actual event.

I’m have the Multiple Event Registration Add-on installed, since the event has multiple ticket categories (i.e. Gold, Sliver). On the ticket registration page I created I’m using the short code [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=7]. When I click on “Register” and then “View Cart”, I am redirected to the same page: Index of /event-registration , but no actual event.

Can you point me to why I cannot view the Event Registration information for this new event?

Thanks!

Hi there,

If you go to Dashboard -> Pages.

Do you have a page call ‘Event Registration’?

It sounds like the main EE registration page have been removed from the site.

If you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Look for the ‘Main registration page’ setting, what page is listed there?

Hi Tony,

I confirmed that I do have a page called “Event Registration”, and the only contents of that page is the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS].

I also confirmed that in Event Espresso -> General Settings, the Main Registration Page setting is set to “Event Registration”.

If I try to view the Event Registration page, it does not display an actual web page, rather I see

Index of /event-registration
– Parent Directory
– ?ee=3/

Suggestions on what to try next?

Thank you.

Can you go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

What are your permalinks currently set to?

Make no changes and click to save the settings there.

Now check you event registration page again, is it the same?

Hi Tony,

I tried resaving the Permalinks, unfortunately when I tried to view the Event Registration page, I get the same error.

Also:

Permalinks are set as follows:
Common Settings: Month and name
Optional:
Category base: category
Tag base: tag

I should mention that we use Event Espresso to handle our large annual events. It all worked well when I set up the prior event last year.

We are now using
WordPress 4.3.1
Event Espresso v 3.1.37.5.P
Event Espresso Multi Event Registration v 1.0.5
Event Espresso Permissions v 1.5.5.p
Event Espresso Ticketing v 2.2.0.p

Thanks!

Hi, I have a question about this comment:

If I try to view the Event Registration page, it does not display an actual web page, rather I see
Index of /event-registration
– Parent Directory
– ?ee=3/

Could you share a link to any event on your site?

Ok thank you. Do you have a folder called “event-registration” in your WordPress installation folder?

This could happen if you were testing Event Espresso in a testing site or if the main site was duplicated in a sub-folder installation.

My other question is could you search WP-admin –> Pages to see if this shortcode is in use across multiple pages?

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS]

Hi Lorenzo,

Yes, I did find a separate folder called “/public_html/event-registration” with a subfolder called ?ee=3.

Here are the files in the folder:
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/.htaccess
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/400.shtml
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/401.shtml
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/403.shtml
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/404.shtml
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/500.php
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/500.shtml
/public_html/event-registration/?ee=3/default.html

Should that folder and files be there? Should I delete it?

I did do a search, and found only one instance of the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] on the Event Registration page.

Next steps? Thanks!

That’s an unusual list of files, and I wouldn’t expect there to be an event-registration folder like that. Can you try removing that folder from your server?

Another thing you can try is set up a new WordPress page, place the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode on it, then point the Event Espresso > General Settings > Main Registration page setting to point to the new page.

Hi Josh,

I just renamed the /public_html/event-registration folder to /public_html/event-registration-backup, and then re-saved the Permalinks.

The registration page is now appearing!

I’ll work on this some more tonight, but if you don’t hear from me by morning, you can close this issue.

Tony, Lorenzo, Josh…Thank you for the EXCELLENT support!
