The [CO_EMAIL] is pulling our old email address and I cannot find a way to update it.

Hi there,

So you have updated the email address within Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Primary Contact Email to the new email address?

Have your message templates been updated to use [CO_EMAIL]?

Which messages shows your old email?

Yes, general settings have been updated and confirmed.

Yes, templates utilize [CO_EMAIL]. FWIW, the [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] shows the correct email.

The ‘Registration Approved’ template still shows old email.

You can change the email address in the Primary Contact Email field set in Event Espresso > General Settings.

Josh, the Primary Contact Email field already contains the correct email address.

Do you use any SMTP plugins, or transactional email services such as SendGrid to send your emails?

If so which one? Have you check the send from email address used for that?

Yes we use postmark, however I’m not talking about the sendfrom address. I’m referring specifcally to the [CO_EMAIL] funtion within ‘Registration Approved’ email template.

Hello,

In a prior support post (https://eventespresso.com/topic/updating-sent-from-email-address-for-messages/), you mentioned that Postmark app was in use and that was changing the send from email address. It sounds like you are asking about something else in this support post.

Which recipient are you referring to for the Registration approved message type (e.g. Event admin, recipient, primary registrant)?

Could you share a screenshot of the screen that you are referring to?

Thanks!

Lorenzo

That was prior post that was closed when the postfix problem was corrected. This current post has nothing to do with the prior post.

All three message types have the same error.

I did send a copy of the email to Tony Warwick as well.

Screen shots show the shortcode and how it is still pulling the old email address (tickets@skatinutes.com)

Ok, I see now.

I think you are looking within the wrong section, the ‘Main Content’ section of the email does NOT output the ‘Connect with this event’ section of the email, so this – http://take.ms/WZvV7

Outputs this section – http://take.ms/McaQ9

That’s using the [CO_EMAIL] shortcode and works as expected.

This section – http://take.ms/UyoE2

Is output within [EVENT_LIST] section – http://take.ms/a9inG

That by default will use [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] shrotcode as its event specific. To change that you have a couple of options.

You can swap that out within the message templates to use [CO_EMAIL] shortcodes or you can change the email address of the user account that is set as the event author for those events. ([EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] parses to the email address of that user account)

If that has already been changed please end me login details using form:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

So that I can review your messages and find the cause.

Tony, I’m going to have to disagree. I tracked down the [CO_EMAIL] from Main content section. Please see screenshot.

Tony, I’m going to have to disagree. I tracked down the [CO_EMAIL] from Main content section. Please see screenshot.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding here, but it looks like you’ve tracked down the section that outputs the working [CO_EMAIL] that is shown at the very bottom of the email in the footer.

As far as your email, and this thread goes, that is not what is outputting the ‘wrong’ email address.

The wrong email address is tickets@skatinutes.com, correct?

Open up Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default message templates -> Registration Approved -> Primary Registrant.

Switch to Visual mode on the Main Content and Event List sections (the box below main content), you’ll find the ‘Connect with this event’ section is output in the second box – http://take.ms/MuYzt

Which section outputs the wrong email?

The CO_Email in the Main section isn’t pulling the correct email. Its pulling a now disabled info@skatinutes.com address.

The email footer is using the Event list section and using the [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] short code. This is working.

Please see screen shot.

Perhaps this old address is in multiple message types? I can update the shortcode to anything you recommend as long as we get rid of the old address…

The CO_Email in the Main section isn’t pulling the correct email. Its pulling a now disabled info@skatinutes.com address.

I think you mean this section? – http://take.ms/UyoE2

That’s from EVENT_LIST.

The email footer is using the Event list section and using the [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] short code. This is working.

You have those backwards, the EVENT_LIST section does not output the email footer. EVENT_LIST is a shortcode parsed within the Main Content area. It can not output the email footer as the footer is a part of Main Content.

To fix the emails you need to go to:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message templates -> Registration Approved -> Primary Registrant -> EVENT_LIST

Find the [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] shortcode here – http://take.ms/a9inG

Change both instances (the output and the mailto:) of that shortcode to [CO_EMAIL]

I realized your user account still uses the old email address so you’ll likely want to update that too.

Go to Dashboard -> Users.

Find the user that has the tickets@skatinutes.com email address and edit that user. Change the user account to use the new updated email.

That will also fix the email address used in the email as the details are being pulled for the event author which is that user account.

Tony, now we are in business!

Is it possible to make [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] a valid shortcode within the Main Content field?

Tony

Not currently, the event author is specific to an event and needs the event passed to it to parse.

The EVENT_LIST section has the event passed to it, MAIN_CONTENT does not.

Ok. Thanks for your help. Looks like we are good.
