Came across a few questions upon further set up of the reg plugin today.

1. Will using paypal Sandbox not turn the payments from incomplete to completed? Just wondering, as I go through the whole process with the sandbox, come back to the thank you page, it says it’s been completed in the text at the top, but labelled as incomplete at the bottom, and in the backend. and I get an email saying it failed. (see screenshot)

2. In regards to collecting additional information from additional attendee’s. I have 3 additional attendee’s, filled out with name and email. #1 only the primary attendee is listed on the thank you page (screenshot). and #2 In the backend as well (screenshot). My client needs to be able to find the additional attendee’s name and email. Where is this located?

Hi there,

You can make sure the PayPal IPN gets sent by PayPal and received by your site by following this guide:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/#paypal

For #2, you’ll need to input a different name and email address for each of those attendees for it to make a separate contact. When you fill out the same name and email address for every registration, it makes only one contact.

I will check the PayPal IPN thing.

#2 – I did type in 4 different names and emails, and it all populated with the first one. That’s why I’m wondering what’s going on. If you go to my site, and purchase 3 golf registrations for example, and fill out 3 names. it only populates with the name and email of “attendee 1”

You’ll need to use the system questions for the additional attendees if you want a contact to be made for each registration. The custom questions do not make for additional contacts.

To fix this, I can suggest changing the Contact name question to be the Golfer Name question, then make a new custom question for the Contact name and assign it to the question group used for the Primary attendee.

RE: PayPal…

Did you see the part where I said I was using a sandbox test account?
Regardless, I have signed into my personal paypal and followed the instructions in the link you gave, I am still getting an error when trying to purchase something:

An error has occurred:
IPN Validation failed! Paypal responded with ‘WP Error. Code: “http_request_failed”, Message: “SSL connect error”, Data: “”‘

RE: Contacts…

I think you’re misunderstanding me. I just want to know where I can FIND the information that I type into “attendee 2” “attendee 3” and “attendee 4” etc. It has to be saved somewhere, otherwise it’s pointless to have. When I view the transaction in the backend I only see “attendee 1″‘s name 4 times, Where are names and emails that I type into “attendee 2-4” located?

I’ve already tried using the “transaction template” and this does not solve the issue either.

Is it something to do with it being in Sandbox mode? You would think the point of sandbox is to test it’s working before you launch it.

It looks like notifications are being sent in my paypal sandbox. So why is EE4 failing?

Hello,

The PayPal Sandbox now requires an SSL certificate on your site. If you do not currently have one, then it won’t be able to update via the IPN.

Thanks Lorenzo. Will I need an SSL once I switch to a live PayPal email address? Or will it work without?

Hello,

An SSL certificate is recommended if you are accepting payments but it is not required for live payments with PayPal Standard.

Thanks Lorenzo. I did a test of $0.01 with a live paypal account and it worked fine.
