Change Groupon Text

Hi,

I’ve tried all the options I’ve found and can’t seem to get this to work. I’d like to change “voucher” to “groupon” to reduce confusion of the user.

I tried Poedit, but couldn’t get the file to download correctly from the repository. At least I couldn’t open any file I downloaded.

I tried the quick localization plugin, but it didn’t seem to change anything.

Then I tried to find the event_espresso_groupon_registration_page.php file and I couldn’t find it.

Any thoughts how else I could do this? Or help with one of these options?

Thanks!

Hi Fred,

The best way is still via the language files https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/

Githubs downloading methods are a bit weird:

To download the PO file – left click the link on the main page and then right click the Raw button in the top right of the page that comes up and save as.

To download the MO file – left click the link on the main page, and then left click the View Raw text link in the middle of the page that comes up.

If you don’t do this you may end up with a MO and PO file that contains garbage data and the language wont work.

Do I need the MO and PO file? I was able to download the MO, but not PO. And the guide seems to refer just to the PO file. Thank you!!

Ok, I got it… But still no good. I changed the text that said “enter voucher code” to “enter groupon code” and it’s still coming up the later.

Hi Fred,

I really don’t like messing with editing language files to change one text string. I recommend using a function instead.

You can place this script in your theme’s functions.php file and it will change the text string on the fly.
