I see where I can assign a WordPress template for the “Critical Pages” (Checkout, Transaction, Thank You, Cancel) but how do I tell EE4 to use a specific template for the Event itself?

Hi James,

You can install this plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-page-template/

Once installed, you configure it to allow page template switching for espresso_events post types. Then you can switch page templates for single events within the event editor.

Thanks Josh. Does this plugin work with EE4?

O.k., thanks.

I’ll have to do this everytime I create a new Event / “post”.

Hi,

That’s correct. Events are merely custom posts, so they follow the rules of the rest of your posts.

IF you wanted a more automated approach you would need to create a new template file for the custom post type, based off of your current theme.

http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types#Template_Files

There are some example template files based on the twentyfourteen theme in the event-espresso/templates/Espresso_Arabica_2014 folder.
