Hi,

Another thing I need to discuss with you. In my present set up of
http://project.webkolkata.info/pa/site_pathway/seminars/

I need two level of categories for each of the seminars. How that multi level category can be coded?

For example the top level of Category is :
Finance.
2nd level: Under Finance various Locations to be there as Melbourne, Brisbane etc
Now under Melbourne – actual seminar or event to be posted. So how can this be done?

That is :
Finance (Parent Category) -> Brisbane 1oth July (sub category of Finance)-> Discussing Financial Management Day1 (It is actually the event name).

What I can see, by default, in EE4 one can only add one Category level – so my question is how can this second level of category can be managed.

Hello,

Have you considered using the topic and location in the name of the event category?

Here is an example:

Finance in Brisbane

…and then add the event on that topic for Brisbane via the event editor and then save changes.

Hi,

The question is :

My Parent Category should be Finance
Sub Category under Finance is : Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane
There will be multiple events under Brisbane, Perth etc – so that case, it will be considered as events adding. But for each of the event there is needed to have two levels of nested categories – one is immediate and one is say parent to that. How that is possible to do?

C1: Finance:
C1.1: Melbourne -> Multiple Events
c1.2: Brisbane -> Multiple Events

C2: Management
C2.1 : Melbourne -> Multiple Events
c2.2 : Perth -> Multiple Events

Now, how to create those multiple categories and show in the front end with their respective events?

Also, even if we add C1 level as Category and S1.1 OR C1.2 as venue locations/ City – how that can be filtered in the front end of the website?

Hi,

Can anyone please revert me on this. Is there any way that we can filter events based on Category, Location and Date in the front end?

What I can see, by default, in EE4 one can only add one Category level – so my question is how can this second level of category can be managed.

Event Espresso allows a parent and child category setup.

Go to Event Espresso -> Events -> Categories.

Create your ‘Parent’ category which would be ‘Finance’.

Then create you child category which would be ‘Melbourne’ and set Finance as the ‘Parent’ – http://take.ms/W8fX1

Do the same with your second sub category.

You can then add your events to the sub category.

Also, even if we add C1 level as Category and S1.1 OR C1.2 as venue locations/ City – how that can be filtered in the front end of the website?

It depends on how you want to output the events. You can use the standard category urls:

site.com/event-category/sub-category-1/

Or the parent category:

site.com/event-category/main-category/

Or you can use the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode with the category_slug parameter:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=sub-category-1]

Please not ‘bumping’ your threads will actually have the opposite effect than intended.

We reply to threads based on the last reply date so bumping basically puts the thread to the back of the queue again.

Can anyone please revert me on this. Is there any way that we can filter events based on Category, Location and Date in the front end?

Categories can be used as mentioned above.

For location are you assigning a ‘venue’ to the event?

There’s currently no way to search for specific dates to display event from other than using the Calendar or you could use the Event Table View.
