Can't connect from the iPad/iPhone app: bad username/password

Everything is installed (latest versions), iPad and iPhone apps installed, etc. But when I try and login via the iPad app all I get is “Sorry can’t login. Bad username and password combination.”

I have checked and rechecked the username and password and they work for logging in to the site, just not through the iOS apps. Any help would be appreciated.

I get the exact same response when trying the espressoevents/testdrive site through the iOS apps too.

Hi Jeremy,

With your site it can make a difference on which API is installed and which app is installed. If you have the HD app installed on your iOS device then you’ll need the JSON API plugin installed on your WP site.

If the app and API are up and running it may be the endpoint URL. Since you mentioned you couldn’t log in to the testdrive site I tested both versions of the app (the original one and the HD version) and they both work. The endpoint URL for the testdrive site is https://eventespresso.com/testdrive

Thanks for that.

I double checked, and the JSON API is plugged in: http://d.pr/i/XENE
I also deleted and reinstalled the HD app using the link you gave me. It was the one I had already installed, but I reinstalled anyway.

My results are the same… I get bad user/pass. I also used the reinstalled app to go to the test event link you provided above and get the same thing, screenshot here for you: http://d.pr/i/IyDM

What else can I try?

I’m logged into the test drive site right now with the credentials posted in the mobile app documentation:

Login ID: myespresso

Password: mrespresso

I’m fresh out of ideas on how to troubleshoot the issue with logging into our test site right now, but if you’d like support staff to troubleshoot the issue with logging the app into your site you can send log in credentials for a *temporary* WP admin account.

I figured it out. I use a 15-character complex password, it was: U1JU&jRZ3hJIN;v

When I changed it to a less-complex password it logged right in.

Might be the app is encoding the “&” so I’ll create a ticket for one of the devs to look into it.
