Can only seem to edit styling for some of the email from EE4

Make edits to all default email templates, but when I test a ticket transaction, I get the following email that is unedited:
– Your Event Registration Details
– Your [event name] Tickets
– Event Payment Details

Not sure why these templates would not be part of the templates in Event Espresso > Messages or where I would look to make edits to them

Your Event Registration Details

That’s the ‘Registration Approve’ message type.

Your [event name] Tickets

That’s the ‘Ticket Notice’ message type.

Event Payment Details

That’s the ‘Payment Received’

Have you edited each of those templates?

Note that a single message template can have multiple contexts in which it is used.

So a registration Approved message has 2 contexts active by default, the Event Admin and the Registrant – http://take.ms/RAFTP

Be sure you are editing the correct context (you can click on either of those links to be take to that specific context)

If I filter messages for “Registration Approve” there are no results, so there is not apparent template of this type to edit.

“Payment Received” and “Ticket Notice” – the templates were edited but the emails have the default style.

That’s because I missed a ‘d’, its Registration Approved (same message from my screenshot)

“Payment Received” and “Ticket Notice” – the templates were edited but the emails have the default style.

How are you editing the template? Can you post a walk through of the steps you are taking to open the message editor.

HI Tony – I made the same typo as you, but the filter turns up no results for “Registration Approved”. To edit email templates, I am in EE > messages on the default messages tab and I am editing email message types click on “edit” and using either the visual or text editors. The changes are relatively minor – changing the header background color, removing the header text and adding an image. Then I save the template and these changes are reflected in some, but not all emails. In at least one case, I do not even seem to have a template to edit.

I made the same typo as you, but the filter turns up no results for “Registration Approved”.

Please go to the settings tab (within messages) and confirm the Registration Approved messenger is active there.

If it is drag it into the in-active box on the right, then back again. Now check the default list and see if it shows up. (Note there are 2 pages, please be sure to check over both pages to see if its there)

To edit email templates, I am in EE > messages on the default messages tab and I am editing email message types click on “edit” and using either the visual or text editors.

The ‘edit’ link defaults to the ‘first’ context, which in most cases is the Event Admin (which is not what you want)

Read here about message contexts:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/messages-system-working-with-message-contexts/

The top of the page shows your current context in brackets, it sounds like your editing the admin message and then checking the recipient/primary registrant messages.

Wow – that is a confusing interface. Then entire focus ought to be on customer facing email. Nobody really cares how internal stuff looks and all that data is logged anyway. A simple global style sheet for all email would be super handy. Thanks for your help, Tony! I got everything working as I want it.

You’re most welcome and thank you for the feedback 🙂

Then entire focus ought to be on customer facing email.

This is something we have discussed previously and I’ll check into this.

Nobody really cares how internal stuff looks and all that data is logged anyway.

You’d be surprised how many users complained about not having the ability to edit the admin emails in the say way as recipient emails within EE3, it’s one of the reasons the messages system was designed to allow almost everything to be changed.

A simple global style sheet for all email would be super handy.

We have some hooks that can be used to add/edit styles within most of the messages, it really depends on what your looking to do though.

Thanks for your help, Tony! I got everything working as I want it.

No problem 🙂 If you run into any further problems please let us know.
