Can EE4 work alongside EE3?

Is it possible to run EE4 alongside EE3? We have customised EE3 but would like to use some of the functionality of EE4 too without starting from the beginning. Also, if this is possible, would we need to buy a licence for both?

Hi Lesley,

This is a good question and the answer is Event Espresso 4 cannot be run alongside Event Espresso 3. When you upgrade from 3 to 4 a conversion script can be optionally run that will convert your Event Espresso 3 data to be used with Event Espresso 4. Please see the Event Espresso 4 announcement post for specific information to help you decide if Event Espresso 4 is right for you at this moment.

Thanks for your quick reply. One follow up question – can you tell me if the license key for ee4 works with ee3?
Thanks!

It depends on your account. If your account has access to both ee3 and ee4, then the key works for either version on the same domain.

Thanks, Josh.

Can I ask another question? I’ve been looking at your demo site to see if EE4 will work for my event. The event runs for one week and has three different types of ticket based on different opening times – long day, short day and medium day. There would be different maximum numbers of places per ticket type i.e. there will be 35 tickets available per day for ticket type 1 plus 25 tickets available per day for ticket types 2 and 3.

I can see how to do this by setting up each day as an Event and by using Datetimes and Available Tickets to control the number of spaces available. But as well as offering people the chance to book one day at a set price we would also like them to be able to book a whole week (still with the three different ticket type options) at a cheaper price than booking each day individually. So, each whole-week booking would also need to be controlled by the overall daily limit. Can you tell me if this is achievable using EE4 and how I would set it up?

Many thanks,

Lesley

Hi,

I don’t think that that can be done in EE4 just yet. Really it needs multiple event control and discounts, neither of which are available in EE4 right now.

Hi again

I just tried to login to the demo site again and it seems as though the EE4 plugin has been removed. Is there a reason for this? Does it expire after a certain number of days?

Also, can I check with you if it is possible to show multiple events on the same page or set up multiple choices on the same page using EE4?

Many thanks,
Lesley

Hi Lesley,

Thanks for notifying us about the demo site, I’ll get that looked into.

Multiple events are shown by default on the /events/ page as this is similar ina way to how WordPress posts are shown.

Lesley,

EE4 should be reactivated on the demo site now, sorry about that.
