Can EE be used for events that don't need registration?

I currently have 2 “event” plugins running on my site, EE for events that need registration/attendee information/payments and another for “normal” calendar events (it’s a hockey team, so weekly practice times are a good example) which do not require any feedback from my users.

My question is, does anyone here use EE as an event manager for the second type?

I have tried it and while it seems somewhat possible, it would be great if there was a switch of sorts when entering new events in EE that was like “requires registration?” or “simple vs. advanced” or something like that.

Any thoughts on the above from the EE community?

Hi Andrew,

When you create/edit an event in Event Espresso, there’s an option in the “Event Options” section of the editor that lets you set “Display registration form” to No. It’s set to Yes by default, but you can change that setting to No for events that don’t need registration.

Josh,

Thanks for the response… I saw that “Display Registration Form” which is great. What has me wondering is the need to enter a registration start/end date/time. For an event that doesn’t need registration, what do you suggest I enter for these values?

Registration start = whatever day it is when you create the event (this will make the event “Active”).
Registration end = day of the event (this will make the event disappear, or “expire” after it occurs).
