Calendar View Time Slots

Hi

I have set up a test page for time slot events

http://www.bosworthsgc.co.uk/test-page

This year we are running a snowglobe in half an hour time slots

Each half hour time slot can have 5 groups in it

From a previous suggestion we have created each day as one event with the ticket types being the time slots

Looking at the calendar on our test page, I have it so that when you hover over it, it will show the number of places left

The problem with this view is that it shows total number of places left.

Is there any way on hover to show number of places per time slot that remain or the other option instead of hovering, could this information be diplayed within the calendar itself.

If this is not something as standard would it be possible to request this as bespoke type work if you are able to do this

Thanks and hope you can help

Regards
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

You can make that information available on the calendar, but it involves creating a datetime for every timeslot within the event. You’ll also need to set each ticket in the event to it gives access to the corresponding datetime.

Hi Josh

Thanks for this

So for example if I have 1st November as the event date

I would then create 1st November 09:00 to 09:30 and have five tickets available
09:30 to 10:00 and five tickets available and link each of these to its own ticket?

So currently I hvae 19 different tickets which are infact each of the time slots, to acheive this I also need 19 different event datetimes in half hour slots – is this correct?

Each date time event then is linked to its corresponding ticket?

Thanks

Yes, and you link the ticket to a datetime by clicking on the gear icon to open the advanced editor panel, and you check the checkbox for the corresponding datetime.

I’m trying to do something similar here so that when you hover over the event it will show the remaining slots left. Can you tell me how you got that originally?

https://www.designandmine.com/workshop-calendar/

or even on the event page itself.
https://www.designandmine.com/events/tuesday-may-16th-daytime-open-workshop/

Can’t seem to get it to showup. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi txhomedecor,

You can go to Event Espresso > Calendar and set Show Tooltips to Yes, then save. Then you click on the Advanced Settings tab of the Calendar Settings page and set Display Attendee Limits to Yes.

Then for the event page itself, you set the “Show Ticket Selector” option to Yes within the event editor page for that event.

Thanks for responding Josh. I saw the first steps in the documentation, and they currently are set that way, but the tooltips don’t show up for some reason in chrome or IE.

The display ticket selector is also set to Yes on the Events Templates tab. Is there somewhere else we’re missing?

Thanks again.

Hi txhomedecor,

Your theme is throwing a JS error every time you hover over the calendar, this is preventing the tooltips from showing on the page – http://take.ms/xnwlC

We’ve seen this error reported from the same theme previously (as have other plugins using a similar calendar):

https://eventespresso.com/topic/calendar-tooltips-not-showing-up/

I’d recommend contacting the theme authors to see if they have a solution for this as the fix needs to be done within the themes JS.

Thanks Tony. I’m reaching out to the X Themeco guys. In the meantime, I’m searching around for a way to just show it not on the tooltip, but right on the calendar and event page itself. Is that possible?

That cannot be done for the calendar without some serious PHP coding. The event page can include information about how many ticket sales. It’s part of the show details section of the ticket selector. You can also display the information next to each datetime by adding some PHP code to your website:

Thanks Josh. I’ve created an additional plugin based on the above, but can’t seem to utilize it. I’ve tried to base it on updating the single.php page instructions from here:

https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/16aac08f099d7c154f04

but I think the issue is due to using the x template and not finding the proper file to edit. we initially had this site built for us and they chose using the x template, but it seems to have a large impact on customizations and stops the available slots from showing up in the first place. I don’t think this should be as hard as it is.

I’m not sure I follow why you are using this?

However on looking at your event page it looks you have this working? – https://monosnap.com/file/sjmRFYc5I9gWewje1CYjdXJYR2HOf2

Do you still need help with this?
