Calendar not displaying calendar, only category legend

Hi there,

I had started a topic for this earlier today, thought it was resolved, but now it’s back. Here is a description:

I’ve been using Event Espresso 4 on my website for years with the calendar add-on. Recently the calendar add on no longer functions as it did. It no longer displays the the actual calendar, though it does display the categories at the top, and the ‘powered by Event Espresso’ message at the bottom.

I’ve looked through the various calendar settings to see what could be causing it, to no avail. I’ve tried putting the shortcode in different pages to see if it would respond differently. It responds the same way all over the site.

Any thoughts on how I can fix the Calendar? Some help would be greatly appreciated.

All plugins, WordPress versions and theme are up to date. Earlier I had updated my X Theme and that fixed things for awhile. Now the issue is back:

I’m using:

Event Espresso Version 4.9.65.p
Event Espresso Calendar Add On Version 3.2.13.p
WordPress 4.9.8 running
Theme: Themeco X – Child Theme X Version: 6.2.5

Cheers and thanks again for your time in advance!

Joel

Hi Joel,
Usually when the calendar doesn’t display it’s a conflict with the page builder plugin. What happens is Event Espresso core does a string search for the [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR] shortcode within the content of the page (specifically within the post_content field of the entry in the wp_posts database table).
Page builders don’t always save to the post_content field, so if there’s no shorcode in the post_content field, the plugin doesn’t know the calendar is supposed to be on that page.
If you can temporarily switch to one of the default themes like twenty seventeen, then update the page with the calendar so its post content field has the [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR] shortcode, then the calendar should display there again and you can reactivate the x theme & its companion page builder plugin(s).

Hi Josh. That was helpful. I now see how my theme and Event Espresso interact. There is a way to do it within the themes Page Builder using ‘Classic Elements’. Your response gave the lead I needed to work it out. Much appreciated. Thanks!

Joel
