Calendar list view rather than by month

I used the calendar view with category colours etc but the client now wants this in a simple list view with the date to the side, description and booking link. I don’t know why they want to change but I couldn’t see a quick way of switching the default view to this? Thanks

Hi Nicholas,

I’m sorry but I’m not entirely sure I understand.

The calendar has 5 different views available to use, these can be selected using the cal_view parameter on the ESPRESSO_CALENDAR shortcode, such as:

[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR cal_view=”month”] (Available parameters: month, basicWeek, basicDay, agendaWeek, agendaDay)

However I am unsure if any of these view will suit your needs. It sounds as if they would like to move away from using the Calendar in favour of using an event list?

Or

Do they just want to alter the display of the Calendar? (as such using the parameters above)

Hi Tony, apologies for the explanation, this is the slide I was sent: list view example

They want all upcoming events to display in this format. I’m guessing it’s not a standard feature?

No Problem, just did not want to send you on a wild goose chase for the wrong display.

You are correct it is not a standard output, although we have something a little similar but it would still require some custom coding to look and function how they expect.

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/custom-template-add-on/#calendar

Custom templates were designed to make situations like this a little easier. That template already includes a member check, but would need to be modified some to match the image above which depends on how comfortable you are with PHP/HTML/CSS?

I’m ok with PHP bug fixes supplied to me but it’s not a language I currently speak… CSS and html are within my realm. I suppose I could pay someone to implement, I’ll check to see if they want to cough up for this…

The templates are relatively easy to change, and this looks mainly like a structural issue more than anything as most if not all the data you need is already output. Your client may even like the template as is.
