It looks like you are on an older version of EE. (3.1.29.1P) Can you try updating to the latest version of EE (3.1.30.7P) and the Calendar Add-On?

Sidney, I get exactly the same behavior, and I’m updated to EE 3.1.30.7P. If you advance the calendar month, sometimes they will align properly. For days with multiple events, they will overlap into adjoining cells.

Any activity on this? We are trying to go live, and this is a show-stopper issue for us. The calendar is the central feature that people use for signing up for events.

This is a known issue. At this time there is no fix other than to disable the thumbnail images and/or to put the images in the description and use the tooltip popups. We have been looking into a fix for the past several months but we may need to rebuild an entirely new calendar that can handle images or remove that feature entirely.

The only thing that makes me think it’s a coding bug, is when you refresh the calendar by cycling forward or backward one month and returning to the default calendar, everything usually looks good. Occasionally you have to cycle twice.

The way the calendar works is the table for the calendar is rendered and then, after the table is built, the row sizes are adjusted based on what the script thinks the size of each row should be. The events are added after the fact, and inserted into the calendar cells but are not actually included in the table — it’s all positioned dynamically by the javascript which gives us very little control over where things are going without hacking the original javascript (and even with hacking the original javascript). The issue is that there is something preventing the correct calculation of the heights on the first load — most likely caused by the time it takes to render the images. All of this is part of the fullcalendar.js library which was built by Adam Shaw, not Event Espresso.

fullcalendar.js was not designed to support potentially multiple images per day — though I have seen some other implementations of it have tried doing it as well. As I said, we’ve been looking into a fix for months and have not come any closer despite several attempts. We have other priorities at this time, like Event Espresso 3.2 development, that take a higher precedence than this, unfortunately, and it is this particular bug that is making us consider scrapping this calendar entirely and starting over with something else.
