Bulk Upload Events in EE4

Have started playing around with EE4, and looking at the import function. The question came up as to whether there will be a method for bulk uploading events added into EE4. We schedule MANY classes each month and being able to add them in via CSV is invaluable. Will this function find its way into EE4 eventually?

Hi there,

Event Espresso does have an import feature.

To get started, go ahead and create an event through the Event Editor. Then go to the Events overview page and hover over the name of the event.

You’ll then see several options appear.

Click on Export and it will download that event. Open the file for editing to see how the information is arranged. You can then make edits and import the file through WordPress admin –> Event Espresso –> Events –> Import.

Cheers

Lorenzo

Already took a look at this function… the layout of the EE4 export is okay if you are trying to add single events, but is in no way amenable to adding several different classes at once. We use the CSV that is included in EE3 that allows you to add an event per line which is what we were looking for.

Hi Talves,

The data relationships in EE4 is much more complicated than in EE3, so as a result the import file is also more complicated.

Thanks for the feedback though, it lets us know that we will need to re-examine the import feature in the future to see if it can be simplified.

No problem Dean 🙂 it would be no biggie if we were importing a couple events but typically we import 20+ at a go. Just something to think about.

It would even be helpful to have a “bulk add” events list. I have approx. 15 continuing education events to enter (2 hour, 4 hour, and 8 hour classes). They’re all free to attendees. However, adding an event online seems to require so many individual decision points to configure, that adding just 15 events, which are all very similar in their basic setup, might not be the most efficient way to add. Unless you have another suggestion, I’m planning on downloading an event and copy/paste on the .csv file, modify the dates, descriptions, etc., and import the new events. Does that sound like the most efficient way to add multiple events, at this time?

Actually, I viewed the exported event .csv and see what you mean about not being “amenable” for quickly adding multiple events. If any other suggestions, they would be appreciated.

Hi Sean,

Not other suggestions at this time, but I will raise the subject for discussion internally.
