Braintree add-on

I just purchased this add-on and installed to our dev site with a setup using our Braintree Sandbox keys and merchant ID. I am receiving this error when trying to select as the method of payment:

EEA_Braintree\Exception\Configuration

Does this mean we cannot use Braintree Sandbox accounts for testing?

In Event Espresso > Payment methods > Braintree, do you have it set to Debug mode? It should be set to Debug mode when you use a sandbox account.

When I went back to set Debug mode, I noticed none of my Braintree settings were saved, all keys and Merchant ID empty. When I enter all, I get this error:

Payment method of type Braintree was not saved because there were validation errors. They have been marked in the form

The only error message I find marked on the form is related to the Button URL ‘That URL seems to be broken. Please enter a valid URL’, but the image shows fine on the checkout page.

I have verified the settings in our Sandbox account and they are the same settings I use for Sandbox testing with our Woocommerce Braintree plugin. What else should I try?

Do you happen to have a Braintree plugin activated for Woocommerce?

Yes, I do.

I wonder if that could be conflicting somehow. Like if it uses the same option names or something. Can you temporarily disable the Woocommerce Braintree gateway, then update the Braintree settings for EE4 and see what happens?

I disabled the Braintree gateway in Woocommerce and updated the settings in EE4 and get the same error message. The data is not saved, if you refresh the page, the Debug is back to No and the keys and ID are blank with the error at the top of the page.

That’s caused by an SSL issue on your server. Can you try a URL for a button image that’s not hosted on your site? Like this one?

Okay, got it going now, thank you! A question. Two buttons show, a Paypal button in addition to the Pay Now button. Can the Paypal be disabled? If we did use Paypal to transact this Braintree account, would there be any difference in how the transaction is applied at Braintree?

Hi, Braintree was acquired by PayPal some time ago. We used their latest API which offers the option to accept PayPal payments through the same payment gateway.

If you click on the PayPal button, then you should see a small modal window to login and pay. Otherwise, the credit card option can be used.

The difference between this built-in PayPal option and PayPal standard is that it does not rely on the PayPal Instant Payment Notification to update Event Espresso about a payment status.

Yes, I know and understand Braintree is operated by Paypal. I just need to make sure that any transactions using Paypal do not get charged or reported in Braintree any differently than those not using Paypal. Should I ask Braintree about how they will show up or if they will be charged any differently?

Yes that’s a great question that they’ll know the answer to.
