I am still confused about the Paypal option in our Braintree add-on. I don’t see Paypal referenced anywhere in the settings, our Braintree account only allows for VISA, MasterCard and Discover to process on our account. Why do we see a Paypal option on the checkout form when we select Braintree as our payment method? We do not want to process anything via Paypal. When I asked Braintree about it, they tell me I can enable Paypal on my account.

Hi, it is located in Settings –> Processing Options:

If you are in testing mode (debug mode), then it is automatically enabled:

Yes, I am using debug mode right now with Braintree Sandbox. We do not have this Paypal option enabled in our Braintree settings, so you can confirm this Paypal button will not display as an option during checkout when we go live?

Hi, it appears in sandbox mode and that is set from Braintree (you can’t disable).

It does not appear in live mode by default because there are a couple steps required including providing a link to your privacy policy. So to clarify, there are a few steps needed to enable it in live/production mode.

Does that help?

I think that helps. It would be better if you could tell me that the Paypal option will not appear in live production mode unless I have enabled in Braintree. To be clear, we *do not* want the Paypal option to show up. We only want VISA, MasterCard and Discover to be accepted as defined in our Braintree settings.

Hi,

It does not appear by default in production/live mode because you have to go through several steps to get it enabled.
