Please help. I am just starting out with Event Espresso and cannot figure out how to get it to do what I need.

I am trying to set up registration for a conference where the user is able to add extra events which are then added to the final payment. i.e. the user registers and can opt to go to the gala dinner for an additional $50 and see a film for an extra $15. Is this something I can do with the multiple event registration? Or does it just allow the user to buy several tickets for the same event?

Is there a way of doing this all on one form?

Hi Pat,

There are a couple of ways you can do this. Since we don’t have an “ecommerce” solutions, per se, you can either add the film and gala dinner as individual events, then use the Multiple Event Registration add-on to allow the users to add the events to a cart.

Or, you can use the Price Modifier add-on that can be found in the Pre-Release section of your download. You’ll need to opt-in to the pre-release channel first. The Price Modifier allows you to set up custom questions that can increase the price of the ticket.

Let us know if you have anymore questions.

Hi Jonathan, thank you for your advice. I’ve installed the Price Modifer on my local site and I think that I will be able to do exactly what I want using this.

But, I’ve read the pre-release Channel Guide Do NOT use products from the pre-release product on a production server. Does this mean that I’m not allowed to use it yet? Do I have to wait until its officially released? Any idea when that might be?

Hi Pat,

We recommend not using the pre-release add-ons, because there could still be bugs with them that we aren’t aware of. Also, some of them work, but within a limited scope. For instance, the Price Modifier add-on does not work with the Multiple Event Registration add-on. This is one reason we have not released it as stable yet.

We also recommend that you thoroughly test pre-release add-ons in a staging environment before using them on a production site. And be sure and make backups of your site and db. This should be understood and done anyway. 🙂
