Automatic updates error message

We’re seeing the message “Automatic updates cannot be setup for an EE addon because of an error in the file. Please contact support, and include a list of EE addons recently installed/updated.” twice in the Dashboard.

Hi, could you try manually updating the events calendar add-on by removing the current version and then downloading and uploading the newest version?

Oh, we have modified the calendar module pretty heavily, that’s why the version number is off. Are we stuck with the double error messages because of that?

Not necessarily. It depends on what version of the calendar you modified was. We can’t tell what your heavily modified copy was based on.

The Roles and Permissions plugin is likely causing one of the errors though. So unless you’ve also heavily modified that one, you can deactivate, delete, and install the current version and that will take care of one of the errors.

The code that’s being flagged for the update notice has to do with the function that makes the 1-click updates possible. So if you need to continue using the old calendar and want to get rid of the update related message, you can replace what’s inside the load_pue_update() method in the calendar add-on with the corresponding code from the current version of the calendar add-on.
