Auto Update not working – getting error

I have been able to update before and now when trying I get an error:

I have tried with and without the Elegant Updater Plugin active and not active. why does this have anything to do with Elegant Updater Plugin ?

NOT ACTIVE
An error occurred while updating Event Espresso: Before you can update your Elegant Themes, you must first install the Elegant Updater Plugin to authenticate your subscription.

ACTIVE
An error occurred while updating Event Espresso: Your Elegant Themes username or API Key is incorrect. Please update your details in the Settings > General tab. Valid credentials are required to update your theme.

Hi Mike,

We aren’t affiliated with Elegant Themes.

Could you temporarily deactivate all plugins and reactivate only the theme updater? Then ensure that your credentials for Elegant themes are set correctly and try the update again.

Then could you reactivate Event Espresso after your theme has been updated?
