Authorize.net Not redirecting back to correct site

I am trying to change from Paypal over to Authorize.net and am having some problems. I have set up the default relay response URL and added both URL’s that are stated in the directions. But after a purchase, I am still being redirected to a site that looks like mine, but isn’t formatted correctly. Here is a picture of what it looks like when we are redirected.

If you look in the address bar, it has https, instead of just http. Is that right? I shouldn’t need https because I am not using my sight with an SSL certificate. We should be going through their site and then coming back to ours when the transaction is complete. Now, I may be using the wrong terminology and be completely wrong in everything I am saying. I am not a developer in any way. Could somebody help me out?

P.S. I am using EE version 3.1.36.6 and domain is http://www.paintingandpinot.com

Hi there,

It turns out that Authorize.net SIM doesn’t exactly return you to your site after after payment when using Event Espresso 3. Instead, it loads your site content into their site after payment. So what you’re seeing there is the correct behavior. You can make it so everything matches your site by adding an SSL certificate to your site, then you set the Thank you page to always load as https. This way, when Authorize.net loads up your site (using https) it will look the same as your site does with http.

Josh, Is there a way to get it to work without adding an SSL certificate? Or is this the only way to make it work correctly? I thought there were two choices for Authorize.net on EE, SIM and AIM. I thought using the SIM module meant you didn’t need an SSL Certficate. Am I wrong?

It’s definitely recommended to get an SSL certificate if you’re accepting payments. If you can’t get an SSL certificate for your website, there’s a workaround for the SIM return page that involves loading up all of the styles inline by using a special page template for the Thank You page.

There’s an example page template that you can download here:

Then you upload the template to your theme, then switch the Event Espresso 3 thank you page to use the new page template.
