App not working

I’ve updated all the plugins to the latest version, checked the json output is ok (http://appinmanagement.com/espresso-api/v1/events/public.pretty_json) but if I use the Event Expresso app, I can log in but none of the events which are on the site show up, if I use the Event Expresso HD app, I can’t even login (using the same details as the Event Expresso App) and get the error “Sorry, can’t log in – The operation couldn’t be completed (Cocoa error 3840).

How do I go about resolving this issue?

Thanks

Hi Jack,

The non-HD app uses a different API that isn’t installed as a WordPress plugin. It can be downloaded here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/espresso-ticketing/#services

With the HD app error: Cocoa error 3840 is a JSON parsing error, so something in the JSON feed may causing the error. It looks like the “The Psychology Of Selling, Delivering Excellent Customer Service” event has some unusual break tags in the event description, if you can remove those from the event that may help.

Thanks for the prompt response. I’ve added in the services files but the app still doesn’t show any events. I’ve also updated the text in a number of the events and the JSON looks fine (even ran it through a validator and it came out ok).

Before I go through disabling all the events and adding them in one by one, is there anything in they JSON which looks like it may be causing the problem?

Thanks

Hi Jack,

I can’t see anything obvious currently, possible the event ‘ISMM Level 3 Certificate (4 x Workshops) Commencing’ due to the description containing HTML, which shouldn’t cause an issue but is possible.

You could also try disabling all non EE plugins and see if you can then login.

Tried deactivating other plugins but no joy. Think I’ll remove all the events and add them in one at a time, see if anything causes it to fall over.

I’ve deactivated all the courses and checked the json output:
{
“status”: “OK”,
“status_code”: 200,
“body”: {
“Events”: [

]
}
}

Still no joy with either apps.

Just to check, the username and password are the ones which we use to log into WordPress and the website url I’ve entered into the app is http://appinmanagement.com/xmlrpc.php

This issue is preventing us from going live so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Jack,

Just to check, the username and password are the ones which we use to log into WordPress and the website url Iโ€™ve entered into the app is http://appinmanagement.com/xmlrpc.php

Can you try just http://appinmanagement.com/ for the website url. It should be were WordPress is installed, often this is within root.

One last question – the emails from the site are sent from the correct email address but show in the email client as being sent from “wordpress” How do I change this to our company name?

Thanks again

If your server allows (some have issues) you can go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Find email settings and then set ‘Use fancy email headers?’ to Yes.

Update the settings and the emails should use your company name ๐Ÿ™‚
