Allowing others to refer people to my events – affiliate option

Hi
I tried searching for an answer for this but couldn’t find an understandable answer!

I haven’t yet started to develop my site with Event Espresso but wanted to check it could do something.

I want to have it that others can send their clients to my events and for them to earn an affiliate fee when their client books.

So I need to be able to determine when people book through other people’s links to my site, like EventBrite can do – so can can settle up the referral fee.

I’d appreciate to know if this is possible.

Thank you!

Hi, Event Espresso does not have this feature natively. However, another member did create some sample coding to help track affiliates/referrals via WP Affiliate and Event Espresso 4:

Thanks for getting back to me Lorenzo.

May I request this as a future feature enhancement as I am torn between your product and EventBrite and Uniiverse both of which allow this.

I would have thought it is just a case of looking for a value in the URL string of the link to the event listing / calendar page on the web site (e.g. ee_referrer=), setting it as a cookie on the users machine (in case the buyer makes the purchase at a later date) and storing the referrer value alongside the sale (and visible on the sales page). Then the event organiser can see who has referred people resulting in the sale. The ee-referrer can be set manually by the event organiser and allocated to the affiliate person. Or ideally have a way to set this up within the software as a “set up an affiliate” option but this requires a lot more work – so maybe do this afterwards!

So:
1) Extra field for the “event sale” entity
2) Code in the widgets to pick up ee_referrer, store in a cookie and the sale entity if a sale is made
3) Be able to view the ee-referrer ID alongside each sale.

Hi Peter, we have this an an open feature request and its something that we can revisit after we have released other add-ons for Event Espresso 4 such as Multiple event registration, Promotions, and the recurring events add-ons.
