This is the second year we’ve used this system and I’m sad to say that it has yet to work seamlessly. Last year things were getting tied up at checkout and people weren’t able to pay without me deleting the cache super often. This year, I’ve changed providers from GoDaddy to HostGator and now people seem to be able to pay, but the payment is not being recorded by event expresso, thus its not triggering the email with the tickets. We’ve had to manually do this. Additionally, people have said that they haven’t been able to purchase tickets – What the heck am I doing wrong? |
Hi, Could you let us know the version of Event Espresso that you are currently using. Next, what payment option are you using on your site? You also mentioned caching. Is that through a caching plugin like WP super cache or W3 total cache? — |

We’re using Version 3.1.36.4.P – payment option is Paypal IPN. We do have WP Super CAche installed… |
Hi Sarah, Please setup no-cache/exclusion rules for your caching plugin: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/ These are the default slugs or pages that should be excluded for Event Espresso 3: /event-registration/ Then clear your cache via your caching plugin. Next, please check your PayPal IPN settings. It should be set to update your transactions page. Here is an example of what the URL should look like: example.com/transactions/ We have more information available here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/ — |

The no cache exclusion directions won’t work since I’m not running EE4 and do not have a critical page tab. I’ll check out the IPN now |
That would be in the General Settings area of Event Espresso 3. These are the default slugs: /event-registration/ — |

Ah, ha! The IPN was disabled. 1 problem solved… hopefully customers benefit from this. 🙂 |
Be sure to also setup no-cache/exclusion rules for your Event Espresso 3 pages if they haven’t already been setup through your caching plugin. Otherwise, your attendees may run into sporadic registration issues. — |

Now I’m getting phpmailerException thrown Invalid address: Help – now I can’t even send people their tickets. (the email was confirmed to be legit) |
Hi, that is from the server. If it wasn’t appearing before, then your web host may have recently made a change on your site. You could also setup a transactional email service like Mandrill or Postmark app which will take over sending emails from the server: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ — |
