Another issue – THis time it’s the add-ons. We’ve got upgrades to our tours that are supposed to be adding an additional amount to the cart during checkout. This too, has stopped working. It was tested successfully before we went live. What’s going on here?

Hi Rob,

Can you give us some details about which add-ons and what is not working?

I’m going to take a guess with the little bit of info you gave and ask if you are trying to use the Multi Event Registration add-on along with the Price Modifier. Is that the case or are there other add-ons in use here?

The price is not being added to the item. For instance, we have a tour that is $100. There is an option to add an upgrade of renting a camera for the tour for $50. We just had a customer purchase a tour, and add the camera upgrade to the tour, but it did not add the price to their checkout and they were only charged for the tour portion, not the camera add-on.

Here is what we’re using:

We are using:
EE 3.1.65.5.P
EE – Calendar 2.2.3.p
EE – Price Modifier 0.0.5.b
EE – Recurring Events 1.1.8.p

Hi,

Are you using Multiple Event Registration (MER) or just the standard registration system?

If you are using MER, Price Modifier does not currently work with it, please see here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/espresso-price-modifier/

If you are not using MER, please provide a link to your site so I can create a test registration.

Thanks.

Not using MER – redacted – once you have the link, please edit and remove it.

It’s clearly been added during the checkout (screenshot from order confirmation)

Hi,

Thanks for the link.

I’m not seeing any issues here, it is correctly adding the value in and trying to charge me for the correct amount.

I tested in Chrome, Firefox and IE10.

Did your customer advise of any issues/errors in the registration process?

Do you know what browser they were using? (They can go here to provide more info http://supportdetails.com/ )

Is this the only time this has occurred or has it come up before? (There is always the potential for user error).

I didn’t get any report of errors. I have no doubt that it could possibly be some sort of user error, but I do not understand how it is that that box could be selected, and then the customer could walk the rest of the way through checkout, complete it and not get charged. The amount on the invoice in EE in the WP dashboard shows that the appropriate amount was not charged. How could that possibly happen by a user error?

Hello,

Could you follow up with the registrant to see what browser they were running?

My thought is that they were running a really old web browser such as IE 6 or 7.

Not really practical to go ask the customer on this.

What am I supposed to do here? we just had ANOTHER order come through with an upgrade added that wasn’t charged. Surely we’re not thinking it’s lightning striking twice and using IE6 or 7.

I have to have a resolution to this. Please let me know what’s going on here.

Hi Rob,

We will need more information to know what is causing the issue. Have you been able to reproduce it when you test it out? If so, what steps did you take to reproduce the issue?

As an aside, I do not think it’s an issue with ie6/7 because that would fall under issues related to JavaScript, and the price modifier does not use JavaScript to modify the price.

May I ask if the two that didn’t get the correct amount charged were single registrations -or- were they multiple attendees registered within the same registration?

You can also get a better view of what’s happening during the registration process if you go to Event Espresso > General Settings and set Event Espresso to Use full logging?

I can’t run tests at the moment as the gateway is live and we’re constantly getting registrants and I don’t have time at the moment to pull the whole thing down to make a test environment. Prior to going live there were no problems with add-ons. This most recent one was a multi-attendee registration where one of the registrants chose an upgrade, the others did not.

The previous registration with the other upgrade option (this problem is affecting both of the upgrade options we’ve included) was a single attendee registration.

I’ve turned on full logging. What’s next? Need to get this done.

Hi Rob,

Can you run a test registration and check the amount that gets sent to the gateway without actually paying?
