My client would like to be able to access the PDF invoice to send it out by email. As far as I can tell, they can only access the Order Confirmation. Is there any way to access the Invoice PDF?

Hi, go to WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> Transactions. Then locate the transaction that you are looking for.

Then click on the PDF icon:

Hi Lorenzo,

This displays the Order Confirmation, not the Invoice PDF. My client needs to be able to download the invoice for each transaction and send it to a third party.

Hi Clare,

When you click that icon you will be taken to a link ending something like this:

/thank-you/?ee=launch_invoice&id=1-d1603f717da3d19652f3bee8695cd66c&receipt=true

Notice the ‘&receipt=true’, if you remove that from the end of the URL it will load up the Invoice HTML page, from there you can download the Invoice.

Whilst not ideal this is currently the only way to pull the Invoice from the Admin section.

I’ve crated a ticket to look into creating another action that will open the Invoice directly, or possibly allow the admin to switch between the Receipt and Invoice once opened in HTML view (before downloading the PDF)

allow the admin to switch between the Receipt and Invoice once opened in HTML view

That’s brilliant. I hadn’t thought of that. I’m already using a custom receipt template so I can implement that no problem. Actually makes more sense for users too.

Thanks.

Just to note, in EE4.5+ we have moved all of the Invoice and Receipt code into the Messages system. This means you can edit all of the Invoice/Receipts from within the Admin itself, it also allows you to use specific shortcodes within those templates.

Your custom templates will continue to work within 4.5 but NOT 4.6.

This is to give you time to update to 4.5, port your customization to the new system, when your ready to use the new system, simply remove your custom templates from uploads and EE will automatically switch over.

The lack of backwards compatibility is really troubling. My client doesn’t have the funds to pay me to rewrite a solution to their problem every time a new update is coming down the pipe. This will lead to security holes and other issues if they’re not able to roll with updates.

I’m having trouble locating the Invoice and Receipt options in the Messages system. I haven’t been able to find any help documentation related to this, except a brief mention in the 4.5 announcement post.

On the Messages screen there is an Email dropdown. But no other options.

I’m using EE 4.4.6.p.

Hi, the Invoice and Receipt message types were introduced with Event Espresso 4.5. There is a pre-release version available from your Event Espresso account page.

Oh my mistake Lorenzo. I confused 4.5 with 4.4.5!
