absolute image path from media gallery

In creating custom email templates, we are adding images via the standard WordPress media gallery tool. That tool is adding images with root relative paths, which render correctly in the html preview, but then of course the images won’t load when the email is actually sent. Is there some sort of setting or customization that we can do to force absolute paths?

Hi there,

The WP media gallery does not return root relative paths by default, do you have any plugins for root relative urls on your site?

If you add an image to a single post/page does it also use a root relative URL there?

Good call out. Yes, looks like at one point this site did have a plugin that did that. On review, it was not active and I have just deleted it. The problem persists. Any other tips?

It could be another plugin, the theme or event setting within wp-config.php if a developer has done something similar to this:

You can rule the others out by following these steps:

1) A theme conflict. You can rule this out by temporarily switching to the default WordPress theme, then test. The Theme Test Drive plugin allows for testing another theme without actually changing your site’s theme.

2) A plugin conflict. You can rule this out by temporarily deactivating any other installed WordPress plugins. Then you reactivate them one by one, while testing the error condition between each reactivation.
