I see from a few searches that the SagePay gateway does not currently support 3D Secure. This raises significant concerns having just received a warning notice from Sagepay, containing the following:
Not being able to take card payments after 14 September 2019 would be catastrophic for our business. Can you share plans to introduce support for 3D Secure into the Sagepay gateway prior to that date. |
Hi Richard, A decision has not been made about which way to go about this, either: In either case we’re planning on having something available before PSD2 comes into effect in September 2019. |

Hi Josh, Good to hear that you are at least thinking about this, and planning a solution ahead of the deadline. Please keep me up to date on progress. The implications for missing that deadline are significant enough for me to already be investigating alternative contingency plans. Plans that I hopefully will not have to follow through. I presume your plans include a sufficient period for the solution to be implemented and tested in my environment before going live. A period I would hope would be measured in weeks. From my point of view, option b) would be preferable, as it should have little or no impact on how the service is integrated. Whereas option a) I suspect would have similar impacts to that of introducing a new gateway. Having just moved from Mijireh to SagePay, I am aware that it isn’t as simple as just uploading and filling in a few fields. ~Richard. |
We’re more than at least thinking about this, there’s an open issue on the SagePay add-on’s repository and it’s assigned to a developer. If for some reason you’re not able to update to the new version of SagePay before the deadline, you could take a look at the Stripe add-on which will have its 3D Secure updates ready sooner. |
