I noticed that there are 2 version of Events Espresso in my plugin page.

Event Espresso Version 4.1.5 Activated

Event Espresso Version 4.1.4.reg Deactivated

I tried to delete the one that is not active and WP says,

‘Plugin could not be deleted due to an error: Could not fully remove the plugin(s) event-espresso/espresso.php.’

What should I do?

Hi Reza,

I would try de-activating both, deleting both, then uploading the latest version through through WP admin again.

If de-activating both will still not allow you to delete them, then you may need use FTP.

Your EE events, settings etc are stored within the Database so will not be lost, however it is always good practice to backup your site before any updates/modifications etc. We have a guide post here on how to back up the site:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

You could also use a plugin I have used BackWPup previously but the choice is yours 🙂

I deactivated and deleted the active EE plugin. Went through FTP and found an EE folder and also deleted. Uploaded EE through the plugin page and activated.

That second EE plugin is still there.

Strange! Did the second plugin appear at any specific time?

If possible I’d like to take a look and see if I can see a reason behind this. Would it be possible for you to send us login details? If so please use https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

*Note – FTP details are important in this case.

Hi Reza,

Could you try removing the existing folder through your hosting panel/cpanel?

Hi Lorenzo

I tried to delete in File Manager from Cpanel and it still won’t delete. I have also tried to activate it. Once activated it said that there is an update. I tried to update but the update failed.

I am now asking my hosting services technical team to delete the directory for me.
