OK i have found the area in the registration pending payment message where the URL is – but can someone please let me know what link I need to use for a user to edit their registration and advise that payment was made by Direct Bank Deposit? thanks |
Hi there,
That’s error from clicking the link within the email? If that’s the case it looks like the url is being altered within the email.
For that you can use [RECIPIENT_EDIT_REGISTRATION_LINK] |

Hi Tony So i went into messages – registration pending payment – primary registrant edited the you can make payment here link it read [PAYMENT_URL] and i changed it to
still resolves to here and cannot be reached sorry for the trouble |
also i noticed the Contact us on Facebook link isnt working either on the pending payment template link is but when i click on this from within the email it points me to and says site cant be reached i had to install mailgun plugin to get emails working….not sure if its related – but please appreciate any help thanks |
If you go to: Event Espresso -> Messages -> Registration Pending Payment -> Primary Pegistrant Then on the editor click the Preview button at the top. Where does the link take you from there? |
Do you have link tracking enabled within MailGun? Go to MailGun, click on your user name on the right and go to ‘Account Settings’ Then Tracking. Look for ‘Tracking clicks:’ is that set to Yes? If so set it to No and retest. Something is rewriting the links within the Emails but the domain is not set up for the redirect. If you have enabled tacking within MailGun you would need to add a CNAME record to your domain pointing to mailgun.org, it looks like that’s not set up. |
when i click on messages and registration pending payment – primary registrant then preview – the link takes me to a box that says http://www.k9nosetime.com says: all the links on this page have ben disabled…..to test you must trigger an actual message |
in mailgun |
also noticed in Order confirmation w hen i click on registration details EDIT I getThe following errors have occurred: |
Order confirmation as in the Receipt or the Registration Approved emails? After some investigating with MailGun it looks like the mailgun plugin will override whatever you have set for the tracking within your account settings. If you go to Settings -> MailGun. Is tracking enabled there? |
Hi Tony in settings mailgun click tracking is enabled and open tracking is enabled thanks for any help – appreciated |
Disable link tracking, that’s breaking the links within the emails. Can you post a link for the page where you would click to view the invoice, I’ll need to view it to see. |
disabled click tracking view order confirmation now edit registration details is working ok when i goto view end users email Registration pending Payment and click on i get http://http//www.k9nosetime.com/registration-checkout/?e_reg_url_link=1-4e360f6c8050f8998be19f6c479df10b&step=attendee_information&revisit=1#checkout http’s server DNS address could not be found. |
AH, that’s because you have:
In your message template, just use the shortcode itself for the link, like this:
just to confirm – what I am trying to achieve here… user registers for on line course and selects Direct Bank Deposit they click on finalize payment and are given bank details and see an order confirmation so once they have done their direct deposit with a reference number – how do they go back and edit the payment details into their registraton so it shows as paid on event expresso under registrations…. |
They can’t. You (the event admin) will need to apply the payment to the registration. We do not allow any offline payment methods to update the payment status, because then people can just update the payment without actually paying. They would need to contact yourself with a payment reference, you can then check the payment and apply it within the transaction, changing the registration status to Approved. |

that is messy thats why i wanted to use Paypal but i want the end user to pay the fee..is it possible? so in “the you can make a payment here” link – how would i point this to send an email to events@k9nosetime.com with the DD reference details |
i changed to[RECIPIENT_EDIT_REGISTRATION_LINK] no change |
is it possible to do this? urgent i know as we cant do Paypal cos of the damn fees so in “the you can make a payment here” link – how would i point this to send an email to events@k9nosetime.com with the DD reference details |
hoping to make this live in a few hours if we can resolve this issue?? |
Hello, You won’t be able to setup what you are trying to do using the payment link in terms of it providing them with information to send a payment to a specific email address when that link is clicked. That link takes them back to the payment options page for Event Espresso so any enabled payment options will be available for use. Along with that, I do not think that fees should delay your project. Any payment service that you choose (e.g. Authorizenet, PayPal, Stripe) will charge transaction fees. That is the cost that you pay for the convenience of accepting a payment and having those funds deposited into your bank account a few days later. If you think about the workflow of processing offline payments and following up with people that do not pay, then that could cause some frustration and headaches in the long term. — |

Hi Lorenzo – its ok i removed the link to pay here and added a message to email a particular address with DD details when payment made. I understand what your saying re the fees and much easier to use Paypal but the person running the courses at $200 each is not prepared to wear the paypal fee as it can be substantial when your taking over 200 registrations every few months for courses….its a pity there isnt some sort of work around for this Sue |
Hello Sue, Tony brought the PayPal agreement to my attention this morning. I’m not sure if you have seen it: https://eventespresso.com/topic/a-reminder-about-paypal-fees/ Here are some other thoughts on fees in general. I recently started reading a book that had a chapter about referrals. Your client could ask for a referral from happy customers (e.g. hand out some business cards; follow up a couple months later with a thank you letter and more business cards). If you gain a few more clients each month from referrals, then that would easily cover the fees and increase the earnings for the business. Braintree currently has a promotion where they will pay credit and debit card fees until you have received over 50k in payments. Afterwards, then the fees are similar to PayPal and Stripe at 2.9% + .30 per transaction. This means that your organization will receive a full $50,000 in credit and debit payments for your events. This offer is available to merchants in the European Union and the United States and you can learn more here: https://www.braintreepayments.com/faq#free-processing Another feature is that you can also accept PayPal payments through the same payment gateway add-on. PayPal transactions fees are not covered by the promotion above and this does offer some flexibility for your registrants/attendees. Please note that an SSL certificate is highly recommended and you can get one from your web host for a fee or you could pickup one from a service like Namecheap for about $20/year. Hope that helps! — |
