Over the last week, people have been trying to register for one of our classes – the summer MDA class – and they are all getting the following “An error has occurred. Your form data could not be applied to any valid registrations.”

On the backend, we have 11 incomplete registrations (multiple attempts by a few poeple) which state “no contact record attached”. We had the upgrade to 4 completed and things seemed to work. Not sure what has changed though I did turn off EE user integration because it was confusing some of our applicants. Had a few sporadic incompletes but I chalked it up to the person not completing checkout correctly – we had others that went through fine. Now it seems like it’s every time and I can replicate it on my end. Please help!!

Hey Ryan,

Sorry for the trouble you are having. It sounds like you are experiencing an issue due to either a caching plugin or server caching.

First, are you on a managed WordPress server? This might be WPEngine, Flywheel, GoDaddy’s Managed WP Hosting, etc. If so, then you will need to contact the host and have them exclude all of the pages/slugs that Event Espresso uses. You can find those in the Event Espresso > General Settings, on the Critical Pages tab.

Secondly, if you are using a caching plugin, like W3 Total Cache, please see here for how to configure the settings: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/

Please let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Thanks for the quick response. No caching plugin. Not on a managed WP host – running on hostgator. There are some errors in the log from the migration, particulary wp_events_answer which says “could not find new registrations for old attendee 0 when creating answer (“id””xx”…) and also errors in wp_events_attendee and wp_esp_payment. Everything else migrated with no issue. Does that have any bearing or give any clues? Next steps?

Hello again Ryan, you shared that you are able to reproduce this issue on your end. A plugin conflict may be causing some issues with registration checkout.

Could you temporarily deactivate all plugins and then reactivate only Event Espresso and re-test?

If it works, then please restore your site a few plugins and a time and retest again. Repeat these steps until your site is restored or until you pinpoint the source of the conflict.

Hello again, were you able to try temporarily testing with other plugins disabled?

It seems like it is working. I was able to narrow it down but I am not sure yet. No time over the last couple of days but as long as it is working for now, I will try later in the week.

Hi Ryan,

You can also update to the current version of Event Espresso 4, which removes an IP address check, which may have contributed to the registrations that you saw that failed.

I will test again this weekend. Had a major upgrade for my dental office that will be finished Friday. Josh – you may be right because I have not ben able to reproduce the error since last week.
