We would like to purchase your business license of Event Espresso but need some confirmations on some of the features.

1) WP User Integration – Will this create a WP user for each event attendee? Will an attendee be able to log into their user profile and see the events they are currently registered for or have attended in the past? If there are custom meta fields associated with WP users, will your WP User Integration allow for those fields while the attendee is viewing their profile?

2) Group Registrations – We noticed there is an add-on for Multi-Event Registration. Will this add-on allow someone to register a group of attendees, creating a ‘primary’ record for each attendee in the group, then allowing one ‘checkout’ or payment for the whole group?

3) Attendance – We need a way to track attendance for an event. We send surveys out to each person who actually attended which results in a completion certificate when the survey is completed. Is there a way to keep track of who has attended an event? The Ticketing add-on will allow us to create tickets with QR codes for scanning … does it record the attendance within the attendee record in Event Espresso?

4) In the Lite version of your software we saw the option to email all attendees of an event. Is there a problem if there are 300 attendees? Does the software regulate the mailsend process so the web host does not flag the website as a spammer?

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso.

1) Not by default no. We do have a function that can be dropped into your themes functions.php to enable the registrant to be registered as a user as well.

If the user was registered with the site and logged in when registering for the event, then yes their profile will display their events. We also have a shortcode to place that data on the front end.

Yes, we work off of the Profile, merely expanding it and making use of it, so any additional data you add to the profile will be visible to the users (not via the front end shortcode though). Please note that while WP User Integration will copy over the nam/email and address details to the forms for the user, custom fields will not be copied over.

2) Multiple Event Registration (MER) is not needed for group registrations, the default plugin will do this. You can have either a single person with X number of anonymous tickets, or have each persons details entered.

MER adds a cart functionality, so users can add multiple events to one cart and purchase that way. It also allows users to add one event to cart that has multiple ticket types and select multiple numbers of each, whereas the standard registration they can only sleect one ticket type for all registrants.

3) You are correct, the Ticketting addon is the best way to do that, if you scan the ticket it will mark them in the dashboard as attended. Currently its not possible to select different attendees form the admin and email them from their, but the export function would allow you to select the appropriate attendees froma spreadhsheet.

4) We do not regulate or throttle the emails, as we use the standard wp_mail() function from WordPress. We would recommend using an alternative service such as Mandrill or Postmarkapp if your server requires email throttling.

If you have any further questions/need clarification, please just ask.
