Hi

I am trying to figure out why under what circumstance does Event Espresso mark a registration as Completed when WorldPay did not process the payment?

I’m on 3.1.36.4.P, using WorldPay Payment Gateway. Payment within WorldPay is marked as CAPTURE_FAILED.

This is a very serious issue, what do you advise to check first?

Thanks in advance

Hi Andrew,

The first thing to check are the copies of Event Espresso templates that were copied over to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates. Those may be out of date and will cause the issue you’re reporting.

You can quickly rule out whether those are causing the issue by temporarily removing these files from the /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates files and double check that unmodified files are in /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/templates. Here are a list of Event Espresso 3’s core template files:

attendee_list.php
confirmation_display.php
event_list_display.php
event_list.php
event_post.php
multi_registration_page_display.php
multi_registration_page.php
payment_overview.php
payment_page.php
pending_approval.php
registration_page_display.php
registration_page.php
return_payment.php
shopping_cart.php
widget.php

Hello

I think the problem was at WorldPay end, with a merchant code not being added to our gateway. Looking at the history, it was authorised but didn’t reach our bank.

I haven’t updated Event Espresso since I modified the templates, so I don’t think it could be that at this time. What do you think?

Thank you

I think it would be good to do a quick compare to see if it’s necessary to have all of those template copied over to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates. If there are some un-modified copies there they can be removed to prevent issues going forward after an update.

There is more information in this guide: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/put-custom-templates/
Note that some templates do need to be copied over in pairs. For example, if you made a change to event_list_display.php, you’ll need to keep its counterpart event_list.php in /uploads.

Also please note that if we need to make a change to a template in version of Event Espresso, you’ll need to copy this change into your custom template to stay current with the plugin. You can use Diffmerge to help merge changes into custom templates.
