Hi, I purchased EE on behalf of my client, thinking it was the solution she needed for her dance studios to allow students to register and pay for their classes on her website, however, after attempting to get familiarized with it over the past couple of weeks, I’m wondering if I was wrong.

She has multiple classes with variables as far as days, times, venues, etc, and it seems impossible to be able to give choices without literally listing every possible variable as a choice in a drop-down list or something of that sort. My thinking was then to just stay with her current paper registration forms (which she insists on keeping to anyway) and then have her students (or their parents) create an account (I’m using the EE WordPress User Integration Extension) and pay their fees so she would have a way to keep track of it all. Again, I’m having issues because of the fact that it seems I have to have an event available for them to register for before they can do so.

Finally, I had the idea to assign a username (consisting of a code that would depend on the studio the student will be attending) and a password in the form of a PIN, with enough four digit codes listed up front and as they are assigned, made unavailable for future use. I’m thinking she could then assign a UN and PW to each parent, and then either my client or the parent can input all of their’s and their child’s details into a profile, and she can then be able to just send messages regarding fees and payments due, etc, and they can pay via her PayPal link on their profile page…

Does this make sense? Or am I missing something huge that would save me a ton of work and headaches? I’m pulling my hair out over this and seriously wishing I had waited before I purchased so that i could have saved a lot of money because I’m thinking that EE may not be an ideal solution after all. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hey Angelia,

It sounds like you may need a membership plugin like s2Member to handle the membership aspect. That way your client can collect membership dues, etc, automatically. Then you can still use Event Espresso to handle the class registrations, however, it still doesn’t allow you to reuse the extra profile information in future registrations.
