We moved our site off of wp and disabled all plugins and CALENDAR IS STILL not populating with classes…am i doing something wrong?? is there a setting somewhere or ???? HELP… site was supposed to go live 3 days ago and i cannot go live with calendar not populating!! |
Hi there, When you enter the dates into the event editor, are they in the YYYY-MM-DD format? |
i just use the drop down calendar and click date from there. |
oh.. and hi there too… sorry didn’t mean to be curt but i am so stressed over this and client is ANXIOUS to say the least for us to go live but i can’t till i get calendar working ๐ |
Hi there, It sounds like something is messing up the date times in the event editor. It might be a conflict from another plugin or it might be a conflict from a function from the active WordPress theme. You can rule these out one by one: |
like i SAID IN MY FIRST POST… WE HAVE ALREADY DONE ALL OF THAT … WE DISABLED EVERYTHING. |
Hi there, Did you try entering in dates into the event editor with the default WordPress theme active? I’m logged in now and I can see that the dates in the event editor are not in the correct format. The theme (or the conflicting plugin) can be fixed to allow the dates to be entered in the correct format. The reason I mention it could be another plugin is because I haven’t verified whether it’s another plugin or the theme that’s changing the date format in the event editor. It will be helpful if you can send us FTP credentials via the redeem a support token form. |
This is what I mean by incorrect format: |
josh i appreciate your help very much… HOWEVER… like i said when you first asked me that…i have simply been USING THE DROP DOWN calendar…i click on the date THATS IT… ee populates it. and if your drop down doesn’t work then i need to get it removed or my client will HAVE A DISASTER OF A CALENDAR if he clicks on the date. i will get you ftp info asap. what about the REG TIME ISSUE? |
Josh, Where do i find the redeem a support token form? I have ftp info |
Hi there, Your “Carousel horizontal posts content slider pro” plugin is causing the breakage. When it’s deactivated, the pop up calendar in the event editor correctly formats the dates. You can send the FTP credentials via the same form that you sent in earlier. The link to the redeem a token form is on your account page. |
ok… i will send now… can you see the blue boxes to left that show the classes… why are they not in date order? is this related to same issue? |
Yes, the dates are not in the correct formats for the events, that’s why they weren’t on the calendar and not in date order in the widget. |
Hi there, We got the FTP credentials you sent, where you also wrote:
We can write a little plugin to block the slider plugin from accessing the event editor. Can you try testing the time issue again right now? The issue may have been caused by the slider plugin. |
hi… ok i will go in and set up an event… i’ll call test thurs event so you can see it. last items… thanks josh! |
ok so i just added the test class… and the time problem is still there. i entered reg start 12:01 am reg ends 11:59 pm (basically we want the reg to be open all day. once i saved event… this is what happened (see screenshot). https://www.dropbox.com/s/s817a4wdwli6uut/Screen%20Shot%202014-12-11%20at%203.37.45%20PM.png?dl=0 HOWEVER, once i fixed the time… it now shows in calendar :))) |
Hi there, I wrote a little plugin that blocks the errant script from the slider plugin from messing up the datetimes in the event editor. You’ll be able to enter in dates now without interference. Regarding the registration end time issue, you can troubleshoot this issue by deactivating all the plugins and temporarily switching the the default theme. Then go in and try adding a new event. Another important thing that needs to be done on this site: The WPEngine’s must-use (or mu) plugins were copied over. Those need to be deleted from this site as it’s not on WPEngine and may also be causing a conflict. We’ve already ruled out the Carousel plugin and fixed the issue it’s causing, so that one can be left activated during troubleshooting. You can display the instructor name on the event page by placing the [ESPRESSO_STAFF] shortcode in the event description field. Where you place the shortcode is where the staff information to be displayed. For example, if you place the shortcode before the class’s description, the staff information will display before the description. If you place the shortcode after the description, the information will display after the description. |

hi… ok… regarding time issue…it was happening before we disabled all plugins and after…have you tried it? there must be a fix or ?? i Just asked my business partner about the mu-plugins being copied over… he has no clue what plugins you are talking about… can you delete them? also… i just got an error message on site saying “down for maintenance”…do you know anything about this? |
The mu plugins were copied over from WPEngine, and they should not have been. They cannot be deactivated. What I can do is move them over to another folder so their code will not execute anymore. Have you tested adding a new event with the default WordPress theme active? I don’t know what’s all on your site well enough to know what the down for maintenance message is about. You might check your logs or ask your host about that. |
if i do not enter a reg time start and stop and just put the dates in will the reg stay open? |
yes go ahead and move the mu-plugins to another folder…thanks |
I moved the WPEngine must use plugins into another folder. Regarding your question about the registration times: It turns out that the copy of Event Espresso on your site has been modified, and the modifications were causing the issues where the event was automatically closed and the reg. end time was resetting to the current time. Your modified copy of Event Espresso is deactivated. I did not delete it, because since you have some work into those modifications, you probably do not want them deleted. So what I did was rename the event-espress plugin folder to event-espresso-off. Then I installed a fresh copy of Event Espresso. If you decide to modify Event Espresso core, please check first to see if your modifications are causing any unexpected issues before contacting support. As an aside, the down for maintenance message may have been the WordPress automatic update that was attempted, which may have been fired by the WPEngine code that was running on your site (WPEngine has an automatic WordPress update feature). I see there’s a message that says “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” |
