Yesterday I ran the upgrade to 4.2.9p. Now when “proceed to payment options” button is clicked on Registration checkout page an error message is returned and the text fields are cleared. The message is “This registration could not be completed please refresh the page and try again.”

Hi Lisa,

I’ve just ran through a registration on your site without any issue.

Can you tell me which browser are you using?

Is this for a specific event? If so could you link me to the event.

You could also try clearing your browsers cache and retying a registration, how you do this will depend on the browser.

Tony,
Thanks for checking this out for me so quickly. It is really strange. I have tried it from other computers now and not had a problem.
I cleared everything I could find to clear and then rebooted. This pc is still having the issue. I’m using IE 11.

I see, running a registration on IE11 does stop the registration.

I can see the site is throwing JavaScript errors, the problem with this is once and error is thrown in JS, no other JS after that will run (the ticket selector uses javascript)

The theme is using $ for jQuery but not calling jQuery.noConflict() – http://take.ms/lm28a

Which may be the cause (possibly not) but should fixed as a starting point. Did you develop the theme yourself?

A quick way to test this is to install the Theme Test Drive plugin and through that activate one of the default themes (such as twentyfourteen) and retest.

Theme Test Drive allows site admins to test other themes without activating them on the site for all other users. Activate twentyfourteen and re-run a registration in IE11, does the registration then work correctly?

Tony,
No. I didn’t develop the theme. I am not a developer, just able to understand some low-level concepts.
The idea of testing it by running the theme test drive makes sense. Unfortunately, I don’t even know how to install the plugin. (Showing how low my knowledge level is)
My developer friend is not available right now to troubleshoot this. Not sure what to do.

Hi Lisa,

It might help to start with getting the Theme test drive plugin installed. Here’s a guide that walks through how to automatically install a plugin that’s hosted on WordPress.org:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Automatic_Plugin_Installation

The above directions apply to installing the Theme Test Drive plugin because it’s hosted on WordPress.org.

Hope that helps!

OK, I think I figured it out. I checked “Always use HTTPS while in the admin panel.” It seems to be working now.

Hi Lisa,

The solution makes sense if the Checkout page is also set up to be loading as HTTPS.
