We want to update the plugin. But first we want to do that on the testwebsite.
Is it possible to give us access to a temporary license key? So we can test everything?
And if we test and update the plugin, can you tell us if the subscribers will get an e-mail for registration again?
In previously updates all registered members got an e-mail!
Just don’t enter a key into the test site, it is only used for one-click updates and support, it does not have any other effect on Event Espresso.
Also, if your test site is using a dev. or staging. subdomain or .dev or .test tld you can use your normal key on that site.
And if we test and update the plugin, can you tell us if the subscribers will get an e-mail for registration again?

That’s not normal, nor expected behaviour so I can’t say for sure it won’t happen as its not something we have reproduced.
When you say they got an email, was it a duplicate email of their registration?
Did they correctly receive an email when they first registered?
The only way I can think of the above happening is if the message queue had messages waiting in the queue due to an issue with WP_Cron, updating EE then re-created the cron with then triggered all of the messages in the queue to send.
If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages, you’ll see the message activity table, do the messages there have a green ‘status bar’ (the coloured bar to the left of each message)?
