I’m trying to update my Plugin. It says an update is available, but then when I try to update I get an error message stating… Download failed. Service Unavailable My license is for agileindy.org and I am trying to update this on my staging site to test before doing in production, so it looks like it is passing that as the domain (agileindy.staging.wpengine.com), is that maybe the issue? |
Hi Matt, How are you today? Sorry for the trouble. I actually experienced the same issue on one of my servers this morning too. The files are served from AWS and this seems to happen on occasion. I know they have had a lot of maintenance to do on their servers lately so that might be the cause. How many times did you try updating, can you try again and let me know if the service is unavailable for you still? |

Garth, I tried 3 or 4 times this morning. I just tried again and had the same error. Thanks for looking into this. |

Interesting, so I copied out the URL in the error message and just tried going to it in a web browser, and I get this error message. 503 ( Invalid Key ): Sorry, your access to this file has expired. Please contact Support for assistance. |
Hi there Matt, I saw that a couple other members are also running into this issue. I’ve deactivated your existing support license key and I’ve created a new one ending in 97. Please copy that new key from your Event Espresso account page and paste that into Event Espresso: https://eventespresso.com/users/agileindy317/ Please let me know if that helps with the update. — |

That seems to have done it. Thank you! It worked on staging anyway, getting ready to try prod. |

So it does seem to be an issue with the support key and my staging site. I noticed now the message under the license key box in the settings… If this is a development or test site, please DO NOT enter your Support License Key. Save it for the live production site, otherwise you will unnecessarily run into issues with needing to have your Key reset. And I noticed the following after updating production… You have the correct Site License Key for Event Espresso but your current membership access only allows for automatic upgrades on one domain. Please log into your account to manage your Site License Keys or purchase a support license now. So how am I supposed to do this? I need to be able to update my staging environment before my production environment, so I need a key to enable updating in staging, but I also need to enable updating in production. Is it possible to get 2 keys, one for staging and one for production? |
Hi Matt, Thanks for letting us know. A support license will link to a single site at a time. If you have a staging site, then you would need to manually complete updates there. — |

Do you have instructions for manual updates? I tried downloading the zip from my account page and installing, and it wouldn’t install since there was already a plugin with that name installed (or something like that, didn’t pay too close attention to the message). In any case, looks like I need my key reset again because of this. |
Sure. https://eventespresso.com/wiki/installing-event-espresso/ Basically: upload the NEW version > deactivate OLD Version > delete OLD version > activate NEW version. |
