Hi, We made the decision to turn off the log in step so that our customers no longer needed a username and password. This was because it was causing some problems for our regulars and also we didn’t feel they were getting any value by having a log in (they were still having to input children’s information for every event etc, so it wasn’t saving useful info for them).
Since turning it off, some of our existing customers have had problems purchasing event tickets – for eg, one of them was taken to a strange profile page they hadn’t see before. Another registered with her usual email address and the following error message appeared:
“You have entered an email address that matches an existing user account in our system. If this is your email address, please log in before continuing your registration. Otherwise, register with a different email address.”
Please can you help us find a solution asap so that we don’t lose/irritate our loyal customers?
Many thanks

As far as I am aware we don’t like to a profile page so we’d need more details on where the user was sent to try and track this down further, do you have any info on the page they were directed to?

You can add the above to a functions plugin or into your WordPress theme’s functions.php file.
As your not requiring users to log in, you’ll need the second function to disable the feature for all.
Note that you’ll also want the ‘Always sync contact information with WP user profile?’ within Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> User Integration Settings set to No as now users could be logged in and using another users details, with that setting you’ll end up with 2 WP users with the same First Name, Last Name and Email address.
