Ticket purchasers are not receive confirmation

People who are purchasing tickets to our event are not being notified that their purchase was successful. PayPal have sent us a notification reporting that when they tried to notify ticket purchasers that the payment had succeeded (using “Instant Payment Notification” or “IPN”) that they failed to deliver the notification.

It looks like they load a page on the web site to notify it when a payment is
completed. The web server may have failed for some reason.

So a couple of things stand out here.

Your site is using v4.8.9 which was released September 10, 2015, so is now 7 years old.

Is there something preventing you from updating? That’s a really outdated version of EE4.

Your site is using PayPal standard which we deprecated a while back now due to similar issues like this and we recommend switching to PayPal Express. PayPal Express uses the same PayPal account type as standard but integrates in a with PayPal in a different, much more reliable way.

We have some details on finding the credentials PayPal Express uses from PayPal here:

So my first recommendation here is to back up the site (a full database and files back) and then update at least Event Espresso 4 to the latest version (currently 4.10.40) and then switch to PayPal Express.

If you still have issues then we can troubleshoot further.
