this past weekend I had my first Event and the attendees were amazed over how we stood and checked them in by scanning the QR-code on their SmartPhones. ๐
Now I am thinking that for the next upcoming Event later this year, I might buy and use EE4 instead. But I am not sure if that is good or not to do this.
I’ve seen that I am able to migrate EE3 data, like the Events and attendees etc to EE4, right?
I have understood that EE4 is a completely better rewrite of the code that shall make it faster, is this right?
What will I loose if I do this upgrade/migration?
Is it possible to get a discount if I upgrade from EE3 to EE4?
One thing you’ll lose in EE4 is the ability to check in by scanning the Q R codes via the mobile apps. There are other workarounds, but currently there are not native apps for scanning tickets for EE4 yet.
Yes. EE4 is a complete rewrite and has a much better codebase than EE3. Also, it’s the way of the future for EE.
Since I don’t know how you use EE3 or which add-ons you use, it’s difficult to say exactly what you may lose if you move to EE4.
With that said, the one thing I know for you sure you will lose for now is the ability to scan tickets with a mobile app. While there is a way to use your mobile device to scan tickets, there isn’t currently a mobile app for EE4.
If you let me know which add-ons you use, we can go from there.
