‘This registration step could not be completed. Please refresh the page’ is a catch all when EE hasn’t received a ‘better’ error to show, it will generally be shown when there a fatal error happening on the server an then no response is received from EE’s request.
If you check the servers error logs from around the time the above error was shown can you see any errors from Event Espresso?
I believe this is our caching problem. We have deleted the object cache from the managed wordpress godaddy and from the firewall we set not to cached EE critical pages.
