Hi guys, I see this topic that was never resolved. https://eventespresso.com/topic/thank-you-page-on-payment-decline/
What are your suggestions on a “thank you for payment” page when a payment is declined. The way this works is very confusing, as a person paying sees a thank you/ confirmation page, but the payment was actually declined. And there is no message telling the user what is wrong with the payment. I had to scour through log files to see that I was actually choosing the wrong payment method from the dropdown when testing, when a simple declined payment message with the same log file message “This transaction cannot be processed. Please enter a valid credit card number and type.” would have saved me hours, and would have probably saved thousands of dollars in missed sales.
To clarify,
1. When a payment is approved, is does great, thank you and confirmation message
2. When a payment is declined, the system still gives a thank you/confirmation message, just with a small red X on the payment line with no clear message about being declined, next steps, or even why it was declined.
With EE4, the onsite billing form that’s used for PayPal Pro adds some credit card number validation. This helps prevent sending a credit card number that’s not valid. Then, if there is a decline, it displays the response from PayPal Pro (usually a specific error message along with the error code) in a modal box.
