We have a number of users who for whatever reasons click the back button in their browser after registering to modify their registration and go through it again. Is there anyways to not allow them to go back or if they try to it just takes them to a an empty cart page or the calendar?

Hi Kevin,

If that is occurring during a registration like midway through, then Event Espresso will show a warning message but they can still click past it. There isn’t a way to control a viewers web browser to prevent that entirely.

However, if they have already completed their registration and have received a confirmation, then it will not block them and they will be able to browse to any pages.

Are the registrants correcting information like typos?

The event includes registering for the parent as well as kids. The person who handles the registrations thinks people may be going back if they forgot to register their kids. We don’t want them to go back into editing the order after they have completed because it creates duplicates. I know in shopping cart systems, once an order is complete they cant click back on their browser to the page where they entered their credit card. It basically says, your cart is empty since once they place their order, it clears the cart. It would be very useful to have a check like this in place.

Hi Kevin,

It turns out in EE3 there is a check and if they do go back, it will delete the original registration should they re-submit another registration while in the same session. If the session is already cleared, then it will make a second duplicate registration, but they would have to re-fill out the registration form again to make that happen.

One of the improvements that came in Event Espresso 4 was it runs the registration checkout on a single page using AJAX. So if there really isn’t a way to hit the back button during the registration process. You’re invited to test out Event Espresso 4.
