Hi, I’m also having problems with payments failing since updating to 4.9.39.p this afternoon. We haven’t customised any ticket selector inputs and it was all working absolutely fine before the update. We use a Stripe gateway. When you get to the registration page it starts looking wrong, and at the checkout stage it says that an error has occurred. I think we are having a similar issue to Jakob. |
Hi Katie, If you try switching to one of the default twenty* themes by using the theme test drive plugin plugin do the problems resolve? |
I will try that, but I don’t have a huge amount of time to spend on this. I can see I’m not the only person with this issue or other issues since the update. If you find a solution for anyone else, please can you let me know as soon as possible so I can try it? |
Hi Katie, This is the only report of payments failing since the 4.9.39.p update. We are aware of some other theme-related issues though, and that’s why I suggest ruling out the theme. |

It seems that the theme is the problem, as it works using the theme test drive plugin. The error message we get is when you click Proceed to Finalize Registration is: Please let me know your suggestions! |
Here’s some more info on our issue: When using theme test drive for one of the default themes it appears that when you select the method of payment checkbox, a function occurs that changes the page to allow you click click a ‘pay now’ button with the Proceed to Finalize Registration button disabled. On our theme this function doesn’t seem to happen and the Proceed to Finalize Registration is enabled. When this button is clicked it then gives the error: “An error has occurred: The billing form was not submitted or something prevented it’s submission.” At this point the option to ‘Pay now’ appears but when clicking this we get this error: “An error has occurred: Must provide source or customer” |
We appear to have fixed the issue based on the information in this thread https://eventespresso.com/topic/issue-after-update/ about adding a function call to get_header in the template file. |
Works fine! Thanks a lot! Jakob |
