Hi, I have encountered this twice in the last week:
an event is showing as Sold Out
the ticket selector shows 12 tickets sold
the limit was 10
total registrations is 7
total transactions is 2- (1 for 5, 1 for 2)
there are no failed or incomplete transactions, no pending registrations.

I was hoping someone could log into my site to see what is wrong.

Hi Michael,

An event moves to a status of sold out once the ticket quantities available reach their limit.

Another way is if an event admin manually changes the status via the event editor.

the ticket selector shows 12 tickets sold
the limit was 10
total registrations is 7

Were any registrations manually added via the WP dashboard?

Hi Orlando,
No, there were no manual registrations, and it was not manually toggled to sold out.

The limit on the tickets and the event was 10 tickets. The ticket selector shows that 12 were sold. However, there were only 7 Registrations, stemming from 2 transactions.

I have reported several inventory problems over the past 5 months. We have had 4 shows sell past their set inventory, and 2 shows “sell out” before the limit was reached. I was hoping someone would want to look at this themselves; something isn’t right. We’re losing confidence in the ability to set limits or sell up to the limits set.

Hi again, we just had this happen to another show this morning. limit=100, registrations=96, event “sold out”

Hi, has your software been updated recently?

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/

Also, are there any caching services running on your site?

Lorenzo, we are on 4.6.12

Also, we are on WPEngine, which EE’s Josh has some familiarity with. They do use caching. I think we have disabled caching on the important pages, but if you have a list of all pages that should not be cached, it would be appreciated.
thank you

Hi Michael,

Here are the default WordPress pages for Event Espresso 4:

/events/
/registration-checkout/
/registration-cancelled/
/transactions/
/thank-you/

If you are using the shortcode for the ticket selector then you’ll also want to have those excluded.

Thanks Lorenzo, I did not have caching disabled on any pages except for checkout. This sounds promising for a fix. Thanks for your help.

Let us know if you need further assistance with this, or if we can mark this as resolved. Thanks.

I can’t be sure yet because the issue was so infrequent, but I think the solution is promising. Just user error!
