I noticed the social coupons plugin is not available in EE4. Is that functionality built into EE4 or do we need to stay on EE3 to continue using it?

Hello,

A promotions system is being developed for Event Espresso 4. If you need that now, then it would be best to continue using Event Espresso 3.

Here is a general roadmap for EE4:

Our event is in late November, so if promotions aren’t going to be ready until 2015, sounds like we’ll stay on EE3. Thanks for the response.

Well, I just got back word that the social coupon feature will not be needed this year, so we may upgrade. My EE3 Business License hasn’t expired yet, so will that work, or do I need to purchase a new EE4 license?

Never mind, I read more of the content on the original link. Looks like it addresses what I was asking.

“If you purchase a EE3 Support License you will also have free access to EE4.”

Hi Steve,

I just want to make sure you are aware that if you upgrade and use EE4

When you migrate your data from EE3 to EE4 you will be using completely separate database tables and Registrations taken through EE4 can not be migrated/transferred to EE3 if at a later date if it is decided the Promo/Coupon features are needed.

Your EE3 Business License includes EE4 so you can upgrade whenever you are ready, however EE4 is a vastly different system to EE3, I would strongly recommend upgrading on a Development server (clone of the current live site either on a live dev server or locally) before updating production, just so any issues can be worked through there before live.

I’m not trying to scare you away from EE4 by any means, just providing as much info for yourself before you move over.
